Among all sexual activities, penetration in the anus and intercourse during menstruation is prohibited. Other than these two acts, a husband and a wife can do countless things to seek pleasure in themselves. Often people ask whether can husband see his wife’s private parts in Islam. Is it permissible or discouraged?
It is permissible for the husband to see his wife’s private parts and vice versa.
The confusion is because of a hadith that states that neither Prophet ﷺ nor Aisha Radiallahu Anha looked at each other’s private parts.

But, scholars have provided commentary on this hadith, which I will discuss in this article.
Can Husband See His Wife’s Private Parts in Islam?
A husband can enjoy her wife in whatever way he wants except for penetration in the anus and intercourse during menstruation.
Allah SWT says in the Quran –
“Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how ye will.” (Surah Baqarah - 223)
As for looking at each other’s private parts, there is nothing haram involved in it.
But, Aisha Radiallahu Anha said,
“the Prophet ﷺ never looked at me (private parts), and I never looked at his.”
This indicates the level of nobility of our Prophet ﷺ. So, if someone decides not to look at his wife’s vagina without any reason, it would be very much appreciated by the Sunnah.

However, it does not mean that looking at each other’s private parts is something haram.
Not only that, the husband can even touch his wife’s private parts to engage in foreplay. And a hadith highly recommends it.
Imam Ibn Qayim mentioned a hadith from Jabir ibn Abdullah in this Al-Tibb Nabawi book –
“The Prophet ﷺ of Allah Sallallahu Alahi Wasalam forbade from engaging in sex before foreplay.”
(Al-Tibb Nabawi p.181)
Furthermore, Imam Ghazali mentioned in this Ihya Ulumud Din book that Anas ibn Malik narrated, Prophet ﷺ said
‘None of you would come to his wife like an animal; but rather there should be between them a messenger. It was said, “What is the messenger O Prophet ﷺ of Allah?” He replied “Kissing and words”

From the information above, hope it is clear to you whether can husband see his wife’s private parts in Islam or not. But, for kissing wife’s private part, there are some restrictions and conditions.
