Non-Muslims can fulfill the aforementioned desires in a halal way by converting to Islam. Humans have not been created by Allah SWT to simply seek pleasure, sleep, and eat.

As a Muslim, your purpose of marriage should be to gain proximity to Allah SWT. Also, you must have the determination to avoid sins. A partner who’s pious and faithful can play a crucial role, inviting his or her significant other towards goodness.

Islam has always considered good manners as a necessity when choosing your desired partner. Prophet Muhammad PBUH mentioned:

“If I were to bestow all the good of both worlds upon a Muslim person, I would endow him with a humble heart, a tongue which continuously utters his praises, a body patient enough to withstand all calamities; and I would give him a pious spouse who, when she sees him, becomes happy, and protects his property and her own honor in his absence”

Ash-hadu Al-laaa Ilaaha Illa-llaahu Wahdahoo Laa Shareeka Lahoo Wa-Ash-hadu Anna Muhammadan ‘Abduhoo Wa Rasooluhu.

“I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, the One alone, without a partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger”

It means you need to believe there is no God but Allah SWT, the creator of the entire universe. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the final messenger of Allah SWT, on earth.

When you convert to Islam then you get eligible to sign the marriage certificate. According to Islam, marriage is when a legal contract is signed between a woman and a man. Both the bride and the groom should have consented to marriage based on free will.

Based on Islamic teachings, faith is the first aspect that you should consider while choosing your significant other. A faithful partner has a crucial role to play in helping you to have a prosperous life. On the basis of the Holy Quran, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) put a lot of emphasis on a person’s manners and personality for fulfilling the criteria of marriage.

In the Quran, it clearly mentions –

“Do not marry idolatresses until they embrace faith. A faithful slave girl is better than an idolatress, though she should impress you. And do not marry [your daughters] to idolaters until they embrace faith…” (2: 221)

So, you should not make any compromise when it comes to fulfilling the conditions of marriage in Islam. The phrase, “until they embrace faith” means marriage with infidels is strictly prohibited. Marriage is only permissible if the individual has embraced Islam. Hence, neither is a man permitted to marry an idolatress nor is it permissible for a Muslim woman to marry an idolater.
