Islamic Dua for Married Couples

Significance of Marriage in Islam

In Islam, marriage is a sacred act that creates a lasting bond between a man & a woman. During an Islamic marriage, you must sign a contract called the Nikah. For Sunni marriages presence of witnesses on the bride and groom’s side is necessary.

One prerequisite during these marriages is that the groom needs to pay Mahr. It is a given amount of money offered to the bride as a gift.

Allah SWT mentioned in the Holy Quran –

“And give unto women their marriage portions in the spirit of a gift; but if they, of their own accord, give up unto you aught thereof, then enjoy it with pleasure and good cheer”
– Surah An-Nisa; Verse 4

Marriage is a relationship of a lifetime that is based on trust and compromise. It has to be as strong as other blood relationships. Prophet Muhammad advised all believers to marry as soon as they can.

Making dua for married couples is one of the most likable acts by Allah SWT. You can ask for anything that’s beneficial in this world and in the hereafter. Allah SWT will either answer your prayer or reward you in the hereafter for remembering him.

As narrated by Abu Hurairah (PBUH), according to him, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said –

“Whoever wishes that Allah would respond to him during hardship and grief, then let him supplicate plentifully when at ease.”

– Tirmidhi 3382

You should not indulge in practices that do not belong to the teachings of the Holy Quran. As a Muslim, you must always strive to lead your life by taking Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as your role model.

Indulging in practices that have no roots in the Islamic Sunnah is known as Bidah. You should never try to innovate anything related to religious matters. Allah SWT dislikes Bidah. The Almighty does not approve of individuals who bring novelty within Islam under the banner of good deeds.

As mentioned by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the hadith narrated by Aishah (RA) –

“Whoever innovates something in this matter of ours (i.e. Islam) that is not part of it, will have it rejected.”   – Surah Ibn Majah, Hadith 14  Getting closer to Allah SWT by offering supplication and praying would help you to attain ultimate peace. If you have a pious spouse, things will become a lot easier for you.

One of them comes and says: “I did so and so.” And he says: “You have done nothing.” Then one amongst them comes and says: “I did not spare so and so until I sowed the seed of discord between a husband and a wife.” Satan goes near him and says: “You have done well.” A’mash said: He then embraces him.
